Bethel Evangelical Secondary School
"Where Christ Directs Learning"

Founded in 1963, Bethel Evangelical Secondary School originally served seventh and eight graders. With a growing student population a new facility was completed in 1970, funded by Presbyterian Church (USA). BESS now provides university-preparatory education for grades 9-12.
The school's mission is to "serve the whole person" and to "build the physical, spiritual, and intellectual life of the learner." In order to fulfill this mission, BESS' faculty and students practice a holistic approach to education that includes a rigorous academic curriculum, practical life skills in agriculture, and daily chapel services.
BESS' graduates are recruited by universities throughout Ethiopia. Wherever they settle after graduation, these high quality alumni make a vital contribution to the Church, to their communities, and to Ethiopia.
